Coffee Sport and Wild Coffee - In Detail!
Most of you probably know the story of how the Wildkaffee Rösterei was founded . Let's take a quick look back. Founder Hardi Wild and his wife Steffi were both active in professional sports and founded the Wildkaffee Rösterei as a second source of income alongside sport, devoting themselves entirely to coffee. Hardi Wild worked as an ice hockey goalkeeper for years and played for the Kölner Haie , the Moskitos Essen and of course for his hometown club, the SC Riessersee , for whom he also worked as a goalkeeping coach for the youth team after his active career.
His wife Steffi also competed in the Alpine Ski World Cup , but had to end her career in 2004 due to injury. Today Steffi is always in charge of the race management at the Women's World Cup in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and of course she also supplies the organizing committee with our coffee.
Hardi's brother Martin Wild , who now runs our wine shop Wein Danke , was also an active ice hockey player. He played for TSV Peißenberg, EA Schongau and EV Mittenwald , among others. But that's not the end of it.
Hardi's long-time teammate Josef Staltmayr "Stalti" is now our roasting master and is dedicated to purchasing green coffee and constant quality control. Stalti played for years at his hometown club TSV Peißenberg before moving to the second division at EHC Wolfsburg . From there he went via Hanover to the Sportclub Riessersee in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where he played alongside Hardi. He is still active at TSV Peißenberg as the sporting director.
Our two youngest members of the team, Maxi Freytag "Friday" and Elias Fischbacher "Fischi", are ice hockey goalkeepers like Hardi. Both were trained by Hardi for over 10 years and not only became close friends, but also worked together professionally. Coffee connects us all. Maxi Freytag is now playing for his hometown club ESC Geretsried , while Elias Fischbacher plays for EC Peiting in the top league. The two of them take care of marketing and all the other tasks. Hardi and Maxi can also often be found at the golf course in Oberau, where they pursue their second passion: golf!
Coffee Sport and Wild Coffee - A combination that simply works!
Our coffee is of course very popular in ice hockey. The various clubs our team is active in swear by wild coffee. The German national ice hockey team also gets our coffee regularly. And of course there are also many individual athletes from the surrounding area and further afield. Marcel Noebels , Marcus Weber , Tino Boos to name just a few from ice hockey. The former biathlete and two-time Olympic champion Laura Dahlmeier is a frequent guest in our show roastery and treats herself to a coffee. A number of sports friends round out our customer base. Coffee is a very good sports drink if you prepare it correctly and use the right beans. It is important that the coffee does not develop too much acid, as this could lead to muscle cramps and a drop in performance, which would of course be counterproductive for any sport.
Sport and coffee - is it healthy?
Let's take a closer look at the coffee-sports mix. The caffeine contained in coffee is a natural source of energy. The invigorating and fat-releasing effect in the body protects the sugar stores in the muscles. This ensures that you feel more energetic before exercise and that you don't lose this energy during exercise.
Ideally, you should drink coffee about 30 minutes before exercising, as this allows the coffee to have the best possible effect. Of course, this cannot be applied to everyone, as every body is different. In this case, trying is better than studying.
Coffee is also not a bad choice after exercise. Coffee has been proven to slow down muscle breakdown and can relieve the symptoms of sore muscles. To ensure you are ideally hydrated, it is advisable to drink plenty of still water as well, as this is how the caffeine works best during exercise. It is best to avoid milk and/or sugar.
We recommend our 100% Arabica varieties such as the house espresso , our wild boar or our medium roasts . Arabica beans are particularly low in acid. The coffee should also be roasted gently and for longer. Preparation in the AeroPress is perfect for low-acid coffee. If you take all of these points into account, you will have an ideal and 100% natural sports drink. Just try it out for yourself. We look forward to your feedback.
