The CAFEC filter paper is suitable for every CAFEC and Hario V60 hand filter due to its tapered shape. The filter paper 01 is also ideal for the hand filter, Origami Dripper. The paper is made of abaca (Manila hemp) and is mixed with wood pulp, then treated with oxygen bleach. It is biodegradable and imparts less of its own taste to the coffee water than other papers.

  • About the product

The Abaca filter paper from CAFEC is a very special paper and is ideal for preparing the finest specialty coffees. The paper is made from Manila hemp (Abaca) and mixed with wood pulp. Thanks to the bleaching with oxygen, it gives off almost no taste of its own to the coffee water and therefore allows your filter coffee to come out particularly clear and nuanced.

    Unique texture

In contrast to other filter papers, the CAFEC Abaca filter paper is very thin. Nevertheless, it is very elastic and therefore tear-resistant, which is essential when making coffee. It has slightly coarser pores and therefore ensures a pleasantly clear taste experience in your cup.

    Comparison with other filter papers
In contrast to other filter papers, CAFEC Abaca is 100% biodegradable and is therefore one of the more sustainable filter papers. This is due to the hemp used, which is processed with wood pulp to create high-quality filter paper. The feel of CAFEC Abaca is reminiscent of Hario paper, but the pores are a bit coarser.

What factors determine the taste of coffee?

In general, it can be said that filter paper made from hemp is the most neutral in taste. But the texture and thickness of the paper you choose also have an impact on your cup. It's all about how much of the coffee's suspended matter and oils are bound. The porosity, fiber structure and thickness of the filter paper are crucial for this. These factors are usually only visible under a microscope, but they have a decisive influence on the cup's profile.
