Matured in a 500-litre barrel , this Grüner Veltliner appears in the glass in a medium green-yellow, slightly cloudy colour . Great herbal spices with a mineral touch on the nose and palate. Apricot and mango accompanied by white pepper and a pleasant note of tobacco and ripe apple. Salty finish . The wine has definite aging potential and can still be enjoyed in 5-8 years.

  • About the winery

The Frischengruber winery at a glance

We got to know and appreciate Georg senior and his wife Florentine Frischengruber in a wine bar in Innsbruck. It took another 3 years and several invitations before we paid them a visit, but it was well worth it. After a tour of the cellars and an extensive tasting, we were delighted with what the Frischengrubers had to offer. The winery, which has been run by the family for 5 generations, is located in Rührsdorf, in the heart of the Wachau wine-growing region. Only white grape varieties such as Grüner Veltliner, Riesling and Burgundy varieties are grown on around 10 hectares of vineyards. Wines from the Kellerweingärten, Kirnberg, Goldberg, Frauenweingärten, Zanzl and Steiger vineyards are produced in the Wachau quality levels Federspiel and Smaragd.

With his line Meine Welt, Georg Frischengruber junior shows what is possible with meticulous work and love for the product, away from conventional thinking. Even though father Georg senior still actively supports the company, dog Jambo has become the most loyal companion in the vineyard and controls the leaf work, the pruning of the vines and the harvest, which is done by hand. In the vineyard, nature is trusted and allowed to take its course. Without any chemical weed control or insecticides, timely soil care is encouraged instead.
