  • About the tea

Greek mountain tea has been drunk for centuries as a refreshing drink, not only because of its many positive properties, but above all because of its wonderfully invigorating taste.

Because it was particularly popular with Greek shepherds, it is also called shepherd's tea. Its delicate citrus notes lift the mood and taste good both warm and cold. With its minerals, essential oils and antioxidants, Greek mountain tea has a beneficial effect on colds, among other things.

Growing region of the Greek Mountain
The Sideritis plant grows wild at altitudes above 975 meters and thrives in the sun in partially dry temperatures. This means that it does not need much soil, water or care to survive. Since it is mainly found on the rocky mountain slopes, it is harvested in small quantities.

Greek Mountain

History of Greek Mountain

Greek Mountain Tea is a naturally caffeine-free herbal tea made from a single variety of the Sideritis plant. The Sideritis plant, commonly known as monkshood, is a perennial herb that grows on the rocky slopes of the Greek mountains and is also found in Albania, Macedonia and Bulgaria.

For centuries, Greek shepherds in the mountains have prepared Sideritis as a tea while tending their sheep, earning it the nickname "Greek Shepherd's Tea".
