For many it is indispensable: Coffee to go in the morning, on the way to work or in the afternoon while strolling through town . It has to be quick in many situations. Hence the trend towards enjoying coffee on the go. The fact that the disposable coffee to go cup ends up in the trash after one use and thus has a negative impact on our environment is often forgotten.
Coffee-to-go cup
On average, the disposable cup consists of around five percent polyethylene plastic. This only applies to the cup itself; there is often also the plastic lid and stirrer. This may seem marginal to the individual, but if you look at the average figures in Germany, coffee consumption has a significant impact on the environment.
The fact is that around 2.8 billion disposable coffee-to-go cups are used in Germany every year, which corresponds to around 320,000 cups per hour.
Coffee-to-go cups from RECUP: How the deposit system works
Of course, we are not the only ones who have noticed the problem of increasing disposable waste. The company RECUP has set up a Germany-wide return system for Coffee-to-go reusable cups introduced. This basically works like a deposit system. For a deposit of one euro you get your coffee to go in a BPA-free plastic cup. You can then return this cup or have it refilled at all participating cafés, restaurants and shops.
The nice thing about it is that in Garmisch-Partenkirchen Not only are we taking part in the campaign, but eight other companies within the market think the deposit system is a good thing. For example, you can Coffee in a RECUP cup at our Wildkaffee Roastery buy and in the Coffee Exchange or in Wild Coffee Café You can find out which individual companies are participating see here .
Maybe one or two cafés in your city will take part in the campaign! Just ask.
