Coffee recipes for summer!

Ginger brew, affogato or iced filter coffee? In the hot summer months, a cold refreshment is just what you need and if it can be combined with good coffee, all the better!

We'll show you how to give the classic cold brew a special touch, how to sweeten the Italian classic Affogato and how filter coffee provides the necessary refreshment even in summer. Of course, you can also get the three coffee recipes for summer freshly brewed in our wild coffee roastery.

Coffee recipe for summer: Affogato – the little Italian

Ingredients (for one glass):

  • 1 large scoop of vanilla ice cream
  • 1 double espresso
  • Optional: whipped cream

Originally known as a dessert in Italian cuisine, the Affogato has now become established in many German coffee shops. And rightly so, because “the little Italian” is the perfect mix of delicious espresso and cool ice cream.

Preparation:

To prepare the affogato, put a large scoop of vanilla ice cream in a glass and pour a double espresso over it. To melt the vanilla ice cream slightly, pour the two espresso shots directly over the scoop of ice cream. Depending on your taste, you can also prepare the affogato with a scoop of hazelnut or stracciatella ice cream. If you like it really sweet, round off the result with a dash of cream.

Alternatively, you can replace the glass with a chocolate-covered waffle. The combination of bitter coffee, refreshing ice cream and delicious waffle is incredibly tasty!

Coffee recipe for summer: Ginger Brew – summery fresh

Ingredients (for one glass):

  • 80 ml ginger beer
  • 80 ml Cold Brew
  • 4 to 5 ice cubes
  • 1 lemon and lime slice
  • Decoration: fresh mint

Behind our Ginger Brew is none other than the summer coffee classic: Cold Brew! To make the Ginger Brew, you first prepare a conventional cold brew coffee. Don't forget that the cold brew needs to brew for at least 12 hours before it can be processed further.

Preparation:

To make the drink, first put 4 to 5 ice cubes in an oblong glass. Place a thin slice of lemon or lime on top. Then pour 80 ml of ginger beer over the ice cubes and citrus fruits and fill the rest of the glass with 80 ml of cold brew.

To achieve a better mixing ratio and to prevent over-foaming, we recommend following the order mentioned. A fresh mint leaf is a great additional decoration on top.

Coffee recipe for summer: Iced filter coffee - filter warm and enjoy cold

 Ingredients (for a glass carafe):

  • 19 g coffee
  • 200 ml water
  • 100 g ice cubes (equivalent to about 6 ice cubes)

If you don't want to go without your filter coffee despite the hot summer days, we have just the right thing for you! With iced filter coffee, you don't really deviate from the brewing process of a conventional filter coffee, you just replace a third of the liquid with ice cubes.

iced filter coffee

Preparation:

To prepare iced filter coffee, put 100 g of ice cubes in a glass carafe and place a hand filter on top. During the entire brewing process, the coffee should run directly onto the ice cubes and slowly melt them. Once the preparations have been made, you can begin preparing the coffee.

To do this, rinse the filter paper with hot water and then fill the bag with 19 g of freshly ground coffee . Now pour about 50 g of water over the coffee in circular movements. This causes it to swell and develop its aroma, also known as blooming.

After 30 seconds, slowly add the remaining 150 g of liquid. Always ensure that the water stream is evenly thin . Ideally, the brewing process should be completed after 140 seconds. As soon as the ice cubes have completely melted, you can enjoy the iced filter coffee!
