  • About the origin

    Many are familiar with the famous Kopi Luwak from Indonesia, whose beans first pass through the digestive tract of the civet cat before being processed into green coffee. In recent years, however, this coffee has also fallen somewhat into disrepute, as some coffee farmers have been keeping civet cats caged, feeding them only coffee cherries, and using them for the production of Kopi Luwak.

    Catur Coffee wanted to create this very special-tasting coffee – but without animal suffering. So they developed a microbial fermentation technology, inspired by naturally occurring microbes from the civet cat – completely without animals at any stage of the process.
