    Biluochun is one of the finest varieties of green tea. Its production mainly uses delicate, young buds. Approximately 15,000 buds are needed for one kilogram of high-quality Bi Luo Chun.

    The tea bushes grow among numerous fruit trees. This gives the tea its characteristic fruity aroma and fine, floral notes of apricot.

Preparation Suggestion

Like any green tea, Bi Luo Chun should be steeped with warm, not boiling, water. A slightly lower water temperature ensures that the fine, sweet, and fruity aromas are preserved and the tea remains pleasantly smooth in the cup.

Water: Heat your water to 75-80°C.

Quantity: 6-7g loose tea for 500ml of water

Steeping time: 2 minutes are sufficient to optimally bring out the fine aromas of Bi Luo Chun. Do not let the tea steep for too long to preserve its fresh and sweet character. The tea leaves can then be steeped one or two more times.

History of Bi Luo Chun

Bi Luo Chun is one of China's most famous green teas and has been one of the great classics of Chinese tea culture for centuries. Its name means "Jade Green Spring Snail" – an allusion to its vibrant green color, spirally rolled leaves, and early spring harvest.

Its home is the Dongting Mountains on Lake Taihu in Jiangsu Province. There, Bi Luo Chun is traditionally grown in a landscape characterized by tea and fruit orchards. This special terroir gives the tea its fresh, delicate character and makes it one of China's most renowned green teas.
